Tuf Cooper is known and loved by many in the western industry. Some know him as the youngest pro rodeo athlete to ever make it to the NFR, others know him as the Million Dollar Cowboy. Then there are those who know him as a smiling face, an inspiration to many, and a man who is devoted to his faith. In all that he does, Tuf succeeds with grace and through it all he has managed to stay true to himself, close to God, and connected to his family. But Tuf's family is more than just his blood relatives.

“We are all connected”, Tuf he said, marveling at the familial bond between those who live and love the western lifestyle. “You make so many connections everywhere you go and you get to go back and see how people have grown and you get to keep building on your relationship as they do. We are all connected. That’s what is so cool.”

Cool is just one way to put a lot of things about Tuf and his life. “My job lets me live my bucket list. If I think of something I want to do, I can reach out to all these people that I have met along the road, and I can make it happen. Because they are all my family. And family does anything for each other. I work as hard as I can so I can accomplish everything I could possibly dream of. I’m blessed. I get to travel all over the country, really the world, and wake up every day and do what I love. Which is compete in rodeos and live the western lifestyle.”

The western lifestyle is not just for cowboys, it’s for the people who dare to live boldly, love deeply, and rodeo their big hearts out. Everyday Tuf Cooper wakes up and gets to live his best life, a life full of chances, friendships, and memories that last a lifetime. And with a life like that, happiness is a given “The thing that makes me so happy is just finding pure enjoyment in the little things. You can be unhappy so easily, being happy is a choice. Seeing other people happy always makes me happy.”

Tuf’s infectiously humble and positive attitude spreads to all the people he encounters. When asked how he wanted to be remembered he simply said, “I want to be remembered as honest and loving. Love your neighbor as you do yourself. Love God. Love others. That’s it. “

Being on the road so frequently, Tuf has found ways to find the comfort and fun in his fast-paced lifestyle. He credits Panhandle Western Wear and Rock and Roll Denim for comfort in the arena and on his way to it. “Everything that is Tuf Cooper Performance is amazing. The first time I saw my logo on those shirts… man, it was the greatest feeling in the world. Every time I see a new shirt come out I get so excited. Every shirt I see is my new favorite, honestly. Also, the Rock and Roll re-flex denim is amazing. I am in love. I wear it every day. Especially on days like this where I am traveling! I never want to take them off.” Re-flex denim provides the perfect amount of stretch for Tuf, whether he be in the seat of a saddle or a truck! Traveling like he does takes a toll on you. So, when we asked him to describe himself in a few words we weren’t so surprised to hear “hungry, happy, and sleepy!”, Tuf joked. “All jokes aside,” he continued, “I would definitely describe myself as motivated.” So much of Tuf’s motivation to be the best person and rodeo athlete he can be comes from his childhood and his family. Tuf’s father, eight-time World Champion Tie-Down Roper and hall of famer Roy "Super Looper" Cooper had a large influence in Tuf’s devotion to becoming the best, enrolling him in home-schooling, or as Tuf calls it, Rodeo-schooling, when he was 16 years old. “My entire childhood was rodeo. It was never-ending. 24/7, 365 days a year. Rodeoing with the family and watching them compete was just so much fun. Loading up the truck and getting to see the people I love do what I love, its humbling.  And when I was about 12 years old I realized that I had an amazing opportunity because of my family. I was born into it. I had such an advantage and I saw that opportunity in front of me and I wanted to make the most of it. I wanted to be just like my brothers, my brother in law, my uncle, my cousins, my dad, my grandfather… I wanted to follow in their footsteps. I wanted to make the most of the opportunity that those guys worked so hard to give me.”

And make the most of it he has. Tuf became the youngest million-dollar cowboy when he crossed that milestone on Feb. 23, 2013, a few weeks after turning 23. Tuf has managed to turn competing for a living into a fruitful career. Since being the youngest cowboy to ever compete in the NFR, he has won a total of 3 world championships. But through his success he has managed to stay humble beyond belief, always giving glory and grace to those who helped him to where he is today. “I give all my credit to God. I give it all back to Jesus. And of course, my family was such a huge part of everything too. Being able to grow up practicing with my dad, the best calf roper that ever walked, that was just so amazing. I believe I was born to do this. I didn’t have a choice. I’ve just been trying to make him proud ever since.”

While Tuf inarguably brings honor to his heritage and impressive familial lineage, he is also motivated to be the best that he can be, simply for himself. “I am always trying to think about how to improve and how to win. All day, every day. And you know, some days you don’t win. You just have to stay open-minded and stay in the moment. Because you have to make the most of whatever God brings you. You can’t let disappointment, a bad run or a blowout on the side of the road, or really any struggling, hold you back from pursuing all the opportunities in front of you. At the end of the day, I get to wake up in the morning and do what I love to do. Not many people get to do that. It’s truly a blessing.”

From his world championships to his charming personality and prominent presence, Tuf is undoubtedly an inspiration to many. Tuf has always taken each day as a blessing and as an opportunity. “Every day is a chance for a new greatest accomplishment!”, he said. He continued to explain what he sees as his biggest accomplishment and provided some inspiring words for his fans.  “My biggest accomplishment is waking up every day with breath in my lungs and being able to get out of bed and do what I love to do. I am very thankful for that, it is a huge accomplishment. And to all the people out there who look up to me, keep fighting, every day. Keep pushing towards what you want to be. Don’t settle. Don’t give up. Don’t give in. No matter what. No matter how bad the situation is, just keep fighting. Trust God.”
